Thriller Movie Poster
Print Design

Design Problem
The design problem was to create a movie poster that visually captured the suspense and emotional depth of Fading Hope, a mystery thriller set in a quiet coastal town. The goal was to communicate the film’s atmosphere of isolation, memory and uncertainty while producing a composition that would intrigue viewers and reflect its cinematic tone. The challenge lay in balancing realism with symbolism to evoke tension and
curiosity without revealing too much of the story.
Concept Development
I explored how light, colour and texture could be used to express the film’s themes of fading clarity and emotional decay. By developing several composition sketches and testing different lighting arrangements, I aimed to build a sense of mystery through contrast and obscurity. The use of a subdued yellow palette became central to the concept, symbolising both the glow of the lighthouse and the weakening sense of hope that threads through the narrative.
Design Solution
Using Adobe Photoshop, I photobashed multiple images to create a fog-filled scene that feels both haunting and cinematic. A lone silhouette stands in shallow water while a distant lighthouse glows faintly through the mist, its reflection rippling across the surface. The film title “Fading Hope” appears as if dissolving into the water, reinforcing the idea of loss and blurred memory. Through controlled lighting, layered textures and subtle atmospheric effects, the final poster evokes mystery and tension while visually representing the tone of the film.
